What helps me a lot is to go to a highscholl reunion once a year and compare myself to my highschool friends instead of comparing myself to 20 yo bjj guys in compete mode mixed with 40 yo olympic level judokas:)
I think JW is right - one needs to be around young fit people all the time and keep comparing to them

That sweep on your point (b) Is very similar to one i have been working on from Satoshi Souza in this video @0.54

Woah - so many sweeps there I'm not sure which one you mean

The ones I just saw looked a lot like variants of the 'classic' De La Riva Get up sweep - I really like that. It's a very 'non flashy' DLR sweep, but very effective.
