Alex is a great martial artist. I think he ranks as one of the better guys I have run across in real life. I hadn't seen this particular video either, thanks Ian :)

Defininely some of the better bagua I have seen - eh? Systema you say? Well, well.

Nice. A lot of the systema stuff concentrates on rather whacky exercises, but this is all clearly combative.

The thing I like about watching Alex's clips is that he's clearly improving.

I mean look at the June 08 seminar highlights compared to 07.

And to do that backwards roll with the delayed second half so silently is a clear display of his body control. I can do it, too, but Alex is a tall guy!

I am... what styles do you practice?

For the last 10 years or so, Hung Gar and Zazen have been my focus.

I have prior experience in Judo and Seikikai Aikido with Parks Sensei, as well as 5-6 years of San Shou. In my spare time I have trained the following:

Baguazhang with Zhang Jie
Dai Style Xin Yi with Frank Wong (under Li Tai Liang)
JJJ/Mongolian Wrestling with Aaron Fields and his students (a great martial artist as well)
Systema with Brian King, Kaizen Taki, and occasionally with Alex Kostic when he has been around
Taoist Qi Gung with Zhang Jie

I like what Alex is doing, he uses his body very efficiently and is smart (IMHO) in his approach to integrating what he does into a whole. If I had a different primary focus I would perhaps aspire to approach things in a similar way.
