Yes, excellent point. In conditions of stress - including heavy sparring - how often do you simply freeze?
It is a natural reaction - Ug, being hunted by a ravenous saber tooth, freezes in place as he knows that it is movement that catches the eye, so hopes that the hungry cat will lose sight of him.
But it is also a terrible one, and needs to be trained through.
I should add that my preferred movement when faced with a combative situation is to run like the bloody clappers. Which tactic, incidentally, is good for one's overall health, too.
