Ive kept pretty quiet on this forum, so thought I should share some clips so you guys can see a bit of what I was doing in China :) These clips were just my Shifu going over some applications and concepts of Taiji Mantis

Sweet shit! Liked the double hand cover in the second clip.

One observation and one question, The second clip looks very similar to Xing I's horse , and also in the second clip , would that be considered the teacher sparring with the student?
The point . is absolute

Hi

The second clip is my teacher doing applications of the first few movements of the form Luan Jie... so no its not considered sparring.

Im not hugely familiar with Xingyi - I only really know the basic 5 fists.

The techniques demonstrated in that clip are like I said the opening movements to the form Luan Jie. It starts with a combination of chops called Wu Da Lian Huan Pi (5 great linked chops) followed by Zuo You Er Yin Yang (left and right two yin/yang), which is using the mantis hooked hand as a block (similar to Taii cloud hands), which is also called Feng, or seal, which is one of the 12 keywords - sealing any openings you may have, or sealing the opponents arm to their body, then Shuang Ti Shuang Duo (double lift, double chop) which is the movement Andy mentioned. Ti or lift another one of the 12 keywords - lifting to create an opening.

I haven't met Thomas personally, as everytime he comes to Yantai, I'm away travelling for the summer! But we are facebook friends and we often talk online
