Lu Baochun Jinangbashi

Postby bailewen on Mon Oct 27, 2008 4:10 am

I was lurking over at the other board just to see what was going on and I noticed that my favorite online Baji guy, Lu Baochun, has released his jingangbashi on youtube.

Pretty sweet.

http://www.youtube.com/user/BajiAssociation

There are 9 videos on that linke. The top left one is pigua. The other 8 are all from the jingang. I am also particularly interested in interpretations on this one:

I'd say that his 8 jingang are closer to what I learned than the Wutan versions but there are still differences, including the one linked above but I was just discussing this one with a shidi yesterday. Can't figure out what to make of the end part where you wrap your arms around yourself. My shidi thought it was a leg grab but I don't see an entrance. The first part is obvious. Basically very similar to any number of Tongbei combos but the ending part. . . ??? ideas?

Don't know enough about the technicalities of Baji to comment on his forms, but I like the seminar clip with the leg takedowns - nice and sharp.

I study Huo Baji. And we have these movements in our Jingongbashi.
I will try to describe the movement you have in question. When you step forward the leading hand grabs/blocks the opponents punch at the same time the other arm/hand swings around and it comes down on the opponents head.

So the "embracing" part is just follow through?

That's how I've sort of interpreted it before anyways but could never quite decide for sure. I haven't really work on it that long anyways. Also, I think the embracing part is a lot more pronounced in our version.

Correct Omar. That is how I was taught it too. Obviously you can hook under your opponents chin too for a takedown / locking type action after the wrap.

In this particular set, it is called quan bao or circular embracing as pointed out.

There are many apps.

He started and ended with opening the bow stance or kai gong shi.

This posture is a sign for tiger or spirits of tiger. I think the 8 postures are also equivalent to 8 gua

So it is the sign of thunder gua.

You may notice the double stomping feet to start the power.

Overall, it is very good.

cool.

Just to mention some apps of quan bao.

all of your 8 extremes or body parts have apps.

1. Forearm sweeping in or down, may deflect the opponent's arm, or just use your hand to sweep in and down the opponent's head or neck joint to make him fall---

2. Forearm sweeping outward, if you use your back hand to strike the opponent's face after you sweep in and down his forearm, it is called Shan (Fan). Of course, the forearm may press the opponent's chest and your foot tripping his leg and make him fall to his back etc.

3. In your moving postures, your shoulder and butt may kao the opponent.

---

on and on.

There are horizontal circles around the shoulder/arm. chest/back, etc.

The hugging or embracing is a closing power (He jin) from 2 arms coming together.

Boxing songs and classics of buddha warrior 8 postures.

For people that are interested.

Hmm? Just making comment that the move is classic.
Nothing else. Just a classic move from that style.
