Never square up in single whip like CMC and Adam do. it needs to be a wedge/triangle not square. push (An) and brush knee need to be square as I demo with an uncompliant push hands partner here. Brian was fresh from the Mark Rasmus seminar and wanted to test his skill. single whip and brush knee at will 11:20 mark.

If the apps are good, who cares about the rest? If the app (the end result of the foundation constructed by form) is good, then the form is good, no matter how it looks like.

it´s Hong Kong Wu style: Wu Jianquan - Cheng Wing Kwong - Long Wei De - Paul Rogers
Poetic licenece or not, the shown application seems to be classic,

I have also learnt a similar linage cth and the applications were very true to the form.
Like I said I like the applications but they are more freestyle than single whip

At 0:39 sun style single whip from over-under clinch (much like a Russian duck-under) and at 0:55 as counter to a hip toss.
