Nice ! I don't know the history, but by logic and historical fact I know that in the fighting arts in the history of mankind grappling predates striking, and is the natural adjunct to all weapons work. I feel if you study a CTMA, and it is authentic, you should find Shuai jiao in your form. And of course you all know me so surely this IMO.

The guy's teacher, Yuan Zumou, is even more impressive. His Shuai Jiao style is the softest and the most circular I've ever seen, and very Bagua-like in terms of some of the footwork and throwing combinations.

It's also interesting that he refers to his art as 手搏, which is an ancient term for SJ and various types of "falling methods" 跌法.
