I was his first student way back in Pittsburgh 1986 from Carnegie Mellon University. Zhang Lu Ping was not a chen style specialists. I studied mostly different styles of kung fu from him(Wah Mountain, tan tui, etc). Later I studied yang style, ba gua , and a little xing yi from him. When I met him I was taking Ho Chen Pai from Toni Haddad and White Dragon from Ernest Rothrock in Pittsburgh. I meet him in a laundry mat when myself and a friend was going over some forms. He asked "did we know kung fu". I said "yes maybe we can trade some forms". My friend Fred was in the special forces at the time. We invited Lu Ping to his apartment in Oakland and He asked to see our kung fu. We showed him (he wasn't impressed) then it was his turn. He had us attack him and we got knocked all over the apartment. I got knock over a table, a couch, both feet off the ground into a corner. I couldn't believe this little guy was knocking us around like rag dolls. I learn very quick and we started taking private classes with him the next week. Needless to say I didn't trade any forms with him. I trained with him till he passed away in 1998 (sad day).
