"...under the conditions agreed upon between Claimant and Challenger" -- that's a big gaping hole IMO. They need to lay out the rules with extreme clarity and detail beforehand, otherwise nobody would travel anywhere.

(Oh, and it's "reimburse" :P :))

Simply because a common response seen in demonstrations is that the person being pushed or pull is, or becomes, rigid, at least as an initial response. This is often seen in simple push/pull demonstrations.

People are alive and have a reaction on a nervous system level. Its sometimes this reaction to the first pulse that creates the effect perceived. Its this second pulse that conforms to Newton's Third.

Agreed.

Yeah, Wile (and others) refer to the maxim about hopping, and the need for that type of "hop" is demonstrable. However, a sparrow's hopping is controlled. I do not think that hopping several times backward (out of contact with the opponent) and then falling down has anything to do with the maxim. It seems that ya'll are referring to an uncontrollable nervous reaction, and are debating the cause. That is, unless it is faked or contrived.

Anyway, I think this debate will only be settled once the proponents can tell us how to distinguish the real from the fake. I.e., if the conditions of a "challenge" are unacceptable, what are the acceptable conditions? Then, just set it up. Of course, it is a bit like asking a religious person to design a test that would disprove his or her belief. So, nothing's going to change. Why argue?

I blogged about this. I think the links at the bottom of the post work better, if you want to watch the videos:

I like the blog
A couple of interesting things about huang v liaow
The gable clip is two people playing the same game
A better clip might have been Ali v Inoque two people from different arts
Even though Stuart has no knowledge of liaow everyone in south East Asia did at that time
People like cheung fei chan of the double dragon school in Sydney
A top karate student of chew chew soot and Kung fu student of his fathers Jin Wu kwoon
Two of the top teachers in south East Asia
Check had an unequalled reputation in both karate and Kung fu tournaments
As well as training many mma champions
The last time I ran into him he was as fit as ever in his 50's
He told me he was sparing 42 rounds a day
He had no question of huangs fights or demos and told me how great they were
I was not so convinced
The other thing I found interesting about Stuarts analysis was his inability to pronounce huangs name
Not so surprising except one of the two tai chi lineages he claims is huangs
Saying that I think Stuart has progressed beyond his tai chi to a mix of systema
Wrestling hybrid
Don't put power into the form let it naturally arise from the form

"progressed" as development?

Not saying he has progressed beyond tai chi
Beyond the tai chi he was doing
