Silly stuff, and if this guy's main tactic is to grab punches out of the air ... well, good luck with that. Even when he faced the "four-technique challenge" (!) against the chap in the crimson tunic, his amazing jar-trained, egg-exploding grasping skill proved unable to deal with a guy who simply pulls out of his lock. Fantasy.
But there is one good thing about this programme: At least it is TRYING to find how TCMA might work in a fight and counter typical MMA techniques. Who knows? One day they might just import a real MMA competitor instead of these oafish foreigners - a competitor who will actually spar these guys rather than playing the CCTV director's current game.
There again, I am reminded of Steve Morris' China trip back in the 1990s. He had a big itinerary planned out in advance: After visiting various boxers in Fujian, he was scheduled to meet some bagua masters in Beijing. Well, after being challenged in Fujian and throwing, first a student than the student's master into the furniture, the word went out through the wushu grapevine and the guys he had been scheduled to meet in Beijing mysteriously failed to show.
