2015 Lei Tai fights at Koushu in Baltimore

I was able to get a few fights on my camera. These ones stood out the most in particular. There are some more on my Youtube.

I feel two ways about these type of fights.
1. I love seeing young cma'ers fighting and mixing it up.
2. The raised platform is a bad idea. Combine that with no boundary ropes and you're looking at unnecessary injuries.

All tough sports have unnecessary injuries that mostly can be prevented. The plattform is cool and a part of the game.

Plus and minus, where these fights stand out, is they give anyone who wants it the opportunity to learn how to hit and get hit, for shear aggression these are necessary lessons many need, 9/10 if steping in with no fear, you come out on top.
Where they are lacking, IMO, is in the shear aggression that such events foster, most often, the only contact ever made is in effort to strike or attack in some way. I feel because of this, it is lacking in the development of the truer more refined skills these arts offer. This would demonstrate the contact made in effort to control and/or set up true combat techniques.

Two fights that were pretty one sided. Lots of fight videos and masters demo's from Kou Shu on nexusjunisblue's youtube here.

Didn't watch both clips but the last clip illustrates my point explicitly. At the beginning, yellow is all hands and attack,by the end he has no clue how to stop a strike from coming in.

Better than doing no sparring and claiming what they do is too dangerous for the ring.

Nice to see cma style contests again and I think the koshiki style rules are pretty safe for amateurs. The only exception is when someone is outright vindictive.

Fun! Thanks for posting. Looks like training a lot of sumo and standing throws could put you at a pretty good advantage.

At a certain point, it seems we would get past the nobody sparring argument, and start speaking from the standpoint of your skill. I think learning how to use the tools properly should be the goal, I think anyone can fight, thats just the simplicity of it. Of course everyone who stepped up learned something.

Really enjoyed the Infinite Weight fight. I love watching big guys who can move.
