This is a video of Sun Zhijun performing the same set, Xingyi's Twelve Hammers. His movements are crisp and well defined - the set is pretty much the same as I learned it, except that we executed the Pao movements in a bow stance.

Slight differences, I have seen slight differences in various executions of this routine from different people and lines here, but the general content is the same. Generally, there are 12 heng quan's performed in sets of 4. Some ideas attribute the name shi er hong chui to pronunciation of shi er heng quan with different local accents. Ill re film Di Guoyong's version clearer, as when that one was filmed was when they were filming his DVDs, during which they filmed all 10 dvd's in a 2 day period.....

Really like Shi Er Hong Chui as a set because of the changes of direction. Unfortunately although we have it in Song style it is not one of the 'core' sets and is taught fairly late, so will probably not get to learn it for a few years.

The 'hong' in the name is a real puzzle, have seen it written as 'red', 'flood', 'great', etc. First time I've heard the 'heng quan' idea, the versions of Shi Er Hong Chui I've seen seem to have a mix of a lot of moves in there (Zuan, Beng, Tuo Xing, Tai Xing, etc).

I didn't get a chance to learn the set, either, but in my line, it is called "shierhengchui." I remember seeing the multi-directional hengquans...

I can see schools with ba Kua feeling no need to emphasise this form
Don't put power into the form let it naturally arise from the form

Very cool seeing the different versions of this set. Shi Er Feng Chui is how I learned it, and it's a long and flowing Hsing-I form. Heng Chuan to six directions is how it starts. Then linear series of moves including some animal moves. It helped me get more quick, smooth and rounded in my movements, lighter steps rather than the heavier power I was used to in the earlier forms.
