I don't speak the language, but clearly he is demonstrating whole connection. Very nice.

my teacher said that Shanghai Tiger Chu GuiTing's (XingYi, Liu QiLan Line) morning routine was doing Na Lan Zha with his spear.
Chen Yiren said that Chu had moves that frightens him.

WD, briefly speaking, he is talking about your intention go passing the tip of spear/staff. Since fist is an extension of weapon, you utilise same principles so when contact with opponents you imagine intention passing thru him like spear head.

Secondly, he said don't slap around like a girl, with abilities to diffuse opponents right upon contact, in short, you don't defend and then attack, it is both defend and attack spontaneously happening with first touch~

Hope this help~

Thanks Over, I believe it is Yi that leads the chi, in this respect, I recognize chi as that which connects all movement. Much like extending the chi through to the tip of the sword, or the head of the spear the whole body must be connected to allow the effort of Yi to extend the chi. This you can see in his body method or "Shen fa" if that is correct

WD, i may be thinking too much... but perhaps there is more.

this video tie very nicely into a recent question i have on my mind:
If indeed we are to believe that Ji Jike created xylh/xy by discarding his spear and turning "it" into a fist
did he also change the spear intention in his mind into a fist intention?

I am not sure, as the language is foreign to me, from what I can see he uses the spear to show how the body moves the line of intent, be it fist or weapon. As with weapons the intent must be placed on the need of the technique, if it is to stab or slice, or cut , the body must direct that intent to the specific needs of the weapon. The ultimate point is that the connection must always be whole.

interesting clip??

What do you mean? Do you mean the clip is not interesting or interesting? Can you put up your comment please?
it seems very stiff and awkward

When one can start to put the major bones in alignment, the body movements become very limited so it looks very stiff and awkward. It looks like a breakdance when trying to push for the movements. With more practice, the stiffness would have gone. He is in the right direction IMO, and he has a strong upper body. More training on the open/close, rotation, and twisting of hip will help.
upper form which means what??? He has a lower form??!

The 66 form is always separated in the upper form and lower form. He does have both.

hi

Many thanks for your comments helpful.

Can you give any more info on the upper form and lower form. What is the difference and what are there training methods why two forms?. Or is it just another routine to add to the system??.
