This is a completely different video, changed to address concerns with piracy.

I am a big fan of Liang style bagua, in the (limited) exposure I have had to people from that style I've been pretty impressed. Although it may look a bit xingyi-ish actually the main non-bagua influence on Liang style was Yue family sanshou, which AFAIK came into the art through exchange with Liu Dekuan. Very very useful techniques, every movement is very clearly a qinna / punch / throw.

Although Liang style is still pretty rare outside of China I think there are several people on this board doing the style, and several of the current generation of teachers (Sui Yunjiang, Wang Tong, Zhang Huasen) have accepted foreign disciples, so hopefully the style will gradually get more widespread.

It's a shame we don't get to see some other branches/persons coming from Liang shi baguazhang. Being a practitioner myself who learned in Beijing for a few years, I can tellyou that waht we get to see is just ok.

I think that pretty much every Liang style 4th generation teacher out there has took at least one or two foreign students :D (It was probably the "in" thing to do at a certain point in time!)

The video in the opening post of the lao ba zhang is very poor and has major differences with Li Ziming's way:

For comparison

Even though Li Ziming was very old in the performance above, the method and tactics of the 8 old palms is generally presented there. Not sure what happened with the guy in the OP.

Hey wushutiger, no disrespect intended, just being a bit silly ;) I of course remember you and a few others on the board who would fall into the category of 5th generation Liang stylist :)

As for the video at top - well, you may have said what many were thinking, but politely did not say...

Hey now, lol, I had a better video up but there were piracy concerns so I replaced it with the first Liang clip I could find that showed any movements.

The original had a cool sort of double arms thing that is very close to a double sword/stick drill I use as a silk reeling exercise.
Better clips are welcome!

I'm also a 5th generation Liang shi baguazhang practitioner from Li Gong Cheng and also practiced under Ma Chuan Xu.
As I said before, many very good Liang stylist don't show up on videos, it's a shame.
