I have some (very closely held) video of certain specific things that he allowed to be filmed, but in general, no, didn't allow video no matter what your relationship with him. Part of it is that he just hates to watch himself on film.

Best,

Chris

That was a seminar looking at Daito Ryu; not what Dan does in his regular seminars.

In the five years I've known him I've never seen him doing these techniques in private or public.

A couple of times at the seminar he actually brought up that he hasn't done them in almost twenty years.

I agree, he's been coming to Hawaii since 2010 and he's never done technique, any traditional art or the kind of class that's shown on the video. This was a workshop for a specific purpose, showing things in a Daito-ryu context.

Best,

Chris

understood,

My own teacher is much the same way until he hit his 90s then he allowed his group to film him using cell phones ect. maybe feeling that his
time was getting short.

He understood that much of what he did would not be understood and wished to keep his practice and those that practiced with him
in a quiet place allowing us to work on the work in peace.

As you I too have clips, the medium certainly has changed over the ys. vhs, cam, flash ect.

Time passes quickly for all of us

This is why Dan didn't want to post videos. It's because idiots would come out of the woodwork and say this and that. Please don't ruin it for everyone you trolls.

No, I don't but you're the one talking about his inner desires, Oberstuermfuehrer Butthurt. Take a deep breath.

Part 4 is particularly ridiculous. What is that uke doing? Crawling along the ground, groaning while barley in contact with the nage. On some parts you can see him flapping around, trying to touch again. He will look back and cringe I think.

Wow, you did way more work than I did. I just clicked on a random moment in the first video and it sucked ass. Fortunately the people who were offended by having obvious nonsense pointed out were able to block me. I have not watched it but would guess you saw a fellow on his tippy-toes.
