One of many talks I've filmed for http://www.woma.tv a different take on internal/external from a philosophical standpoint.

+1

I like very much how you describe the warriors heart Steve. Very nice vid.

I surfed from the youtube vid to a motivational vid and found a good quote that I think suits the OP: "Success does not define us. We define success."

We are always looking outside for things that can define us. It's very hard to change this mindset. I think it needs to grow gradually by constant practice and awareness. Awareness about our own intentions, how we act and deal with both the inside and outside world.

... It's really tough to deal with yourself and figure out all of your flaws and shortcomings and change yourself to the better when you have to live yourself 24/7 ... :D

The biggest change is when we take responsibility for our own training and development. When we decide where we're going, define our aspirations and start to map our own progress, when we challenge every thought and decision and discover how many 'blind assumptions' that were put there by our upbringing and culture we carry. A challenging but worthwhile pursuit.
