I found that first video recently, too! It may be the first time I have seen a "real" seven star rod being used (without the mercury within, I assume). The editor made a mistake, though - you can watch the hook swords transform into another weapon for a second or so...

Yep, he showed some of our Liu Dekuan 64 hands in the video, which I have seen bastardized by so many subsequent generations and other lineages too.

The way Lao Ma does the 64 hands is very special, he almost runs through the form. When I started practicing with him, he asked me to show him the 1st line (that I learned from Li Gongcheng) which I did at "normal" speed. He said that it should be done more rapidly and he proceeded to show me what he meant. It was like he speeded up my form x4 hahaha good memories

Great to see that Ma laoshi is still in good health! I have heard that he is very conservative, having some students just do circle walking for 1-2 years. Any truth to this?

Yes, depending. He also won't really teach you anything if he doesn't find you to be "suitable".

I'd have loved to see the unedited version of this video - since it has been surely edited for sure!

The 64 hands has both the "normal" and "fast" versions. (The video only shows the 1st 2 "hands," at normal speed, it seems.)
