Haha what is funny is the strategy they use. Perhaps a bit more like push hands, but why on earth in a fight would you want to push someone away. If you translate this into an actual fight it would mean that you learn to hit eachother in the face and, if close enough you then push eachother away, to restart the hitting and pushing...hmmm...perhaps that gives some points in competition but fight wise that is really not smart strategy.

Hmmm.... Let's see...

....Enter strategy based on taking contact and work from keeping contact, not let go...
...Whole body power...

Hi Tiga,

I think there is a lot of merit to being able to forcefully push someone off you. It's disruptive, it takes someone's balance, and in an attack it can offer you an opportunity to escape. Of course you don't want this to be the only thing you train, but it is a useful skill.

Best,
Greg

Good on them.

Just a wild guess, but I'd estimate 99% of the armchair tai cheese theorists here have never put on gloves...

Hi Greg, i agree there is merit in pushing someone in a certain way. We have similar stuff in our silat, however there is a distinct difference. If I 'push' someone i want to 'push' him with a downward force, not for uprooting but to bring his head down to my fist or elbow ;)
Ah well it's a matter of strategy. In our silat way we want to finish the fight by taking down the attacker. I don't push him away just to anger him more. Offcourse such a push can be very handy when it's done for instance at the top of some stairs :D

So yes, matter of strategy, i agree it could be useful for some specific cases.

speaking of percentages heh heh heh
i think that's for management

in any ma, either you are there or you are not
the percentages of other is of no concern to oneself.
and what percentage you think of or assign is of no meaning to others
