Boxing v mma: Lomachenko sparring TJ Dillashaw

Dillashaw is former UFC bantamweight champ. He seemed pretty impressed by Lomachenko. Looks like they worked on boxing only, though.

Good to see MMA fighters open-minded enough to recognize their weaknesses and improve their skills by training with boxers. MMA can improve on their defenses and economy of movement, in the punching range.

Just the same, some of Lomachenko's moves may not be suitable, at times, in an MMA environment, where there are no rules restricting, grappling, takedowns, throws, holding, grabbing, knees, elbows, kicks, etc.

Boxer Chris Van Heerden was not happy with the edited sparring footage Conor McGregor released on his website, which was heavily one sided. Well he's let us post this full unedited round from their session, which shows how it actually played out:
How do you rate Conor's boxing, and would he go the distance with Floyd:

To beat a boxer, a MMA player should stay out of the punching range by fighting in the clinching and/or kicking range. Controlling distance is important.

To beat a grappler or a person that relies on bridging (contact), a MMA player should fight in the punching or kicking range.

How would a champion boxer do against a champion kickboxer? Several boxers have stepped up to the challenge, and the results are mostly the same. The weapons they faced were in direct relation with the way they stand, move, and attack. What worked in one sport must be adapted before it becomes efficient or effective in another:
