I provide four examples of modified Wing Chun techniques for competitive boxing. Who says you can't do Wing Chun when wearing boxing gloves? Special thanks must go to Lee Wylie for his expertise and critical analysis on Western Boxing:

In this video I provide an example of how I combine Wing Chun techniques and western boxing to create a self-defence system:

Combining WC and Boxing? IMO, this Aussie is trying to reinvent the wheel and not doing so great; it looks like bad Jeet Kune Do without kicking and grappling.

Ok. But, can you post a video of a Wing Chun player using these trapping techniques in sparring? There is video of boxers using them.

The Aussie may have a point in adding other ways of training, in order to apply these techniques in fighting.

Edit: Wing Chun techniques are also used in MMA, where kicking and grappling are allowed.

Bruce Lee developed Jeet Kune Do for street fighting, but many of the techniques have proven highly effective in Mixed martial arts:

I didnt watch them all so may have missed the bit they got in the ring. I don't mind in essence what they are doing but the problem with this concept and videos is what I know every boxer will say -

"I don't give a shit what you say. Get it in the ring and let your fists do the talking"

By that take on a few real boxers in reasonable amateur fights & records the results. Then the videos can be used as a reference.

As for Wing Chun in mma - sure there are parallel techniques because as humans we tend to have 2 arms and 2 legs so there is cross over. Sadly though the guys who got in the ring claiming to do wc got absolutely destroyed so this argument kind of does not hold much water.

Btw - i did WC for a fair amount of time. It has it's uses but unless trained under a more open mind set (ie not the dogma of its perfect or the so called internalist movement) it will struggle against more versatile fighters.

I applaud anything that makes people put on gloves and find out what works, but I was looking at a lot of that and thinking.... "Why not just do boxing then?"
One does not simply post on RSF.

Agreed, good on em. They are doing more than most to bring their ideas to life.

Next logical step is to test the ideas in the pressure of a ring environment. If they fail, its no biggy, just back to the drawing board and the learnings, then retest. I have been though that process a bunch and its more fruitful than any amount of 'applications'.
