"I challenge all boxers to the McGeror [McGregor] Challenge," wrote undefeated unified jr. welterweight champion Terence Crawford, who recently took to social media to post a video of he and his team mimicking the "rubber arms" warm up of UFC champion Conor McGregor. Check it out!

Steve Morris doing lots of posts at the moment about how this exercise was "stolen" from him in Berlin and that Portal never understood the point of it, then taught it to McGregor wrong.

Oh, the drama!

I find it uncomfortable to watch, to be honest. Not that the exercises are bad, just the way they are done. But I guess that's what happens when people take an idea then teach it without the underlying principles. Same is happening with breathing now....all of a sudden there is Tactical Breathing being taught by people who poo-poohed RMA...but it is taught as a "technique"

Ahhh "The Charasmatic Collector" :D

Its no secret Steve and I dont see eye to eye, but its super sad the way Portal went about that whole thing. Needless to say i am no longer a fan ... and not just because of Steve's experience. Dig a little and it is a tale a thousand times told.

Regardless ... As for the exercise, take away the people ... and the exercise still stands as useful.

Firstly these exercises were around long before Huang
The exercise they are doing is more like the one you would all call no 3 than no 1
It is done much like the hsing I version
All the exercises done here are fine for what the people are trying to achieve
Ido teaching Conor reminds me how rugby players would learn ballet to give them an edge
If he spent most of his time doing these exercises he wouldn't achieve much
The waterfall meditation reminds me of my early days in tang shou Tao
We would bury ourselves in the snow and meditate under waterfalls in winter
One day one of my surfing mates was talking about the falls we meditated under
He told me about some of the giant logs he had seen come over these falls
Lucky I didn't reach instant enlightenment

Oh, the drama!

From the few comments by Morris on his Facebook page, I don't understand how Portal can steal something, if he paid for the class/DVD. Unless, they had a verbal contract on who he can teach the methods to. Portal has also credited Steve as his teacher. It's probably better that he doesn't mention Steve's name, if the particular exercise is wrong or not the same. :)

In the "rubber arms" exercise as well as in the Malignaggi sparring clip, McGregor is throwing arm punches.

Here is McGregor's comments on the "rubber arms" exercise.

@ :28, "You must have the ability to disconnect your shoulders and reconnected it at the point of impact."

@ :36, "With that skill set, is how you can change the jab to a hook in the blink of an eye. Or a jab to an uppercut in the blink of an eye."

In the following McGregor/Malignaggi sparring clip, credit should be given to McGregor's balance and ability to apply pressure (e.g., head control. punches) in the direction of Malignaggi's momentum. However at :03, it is just an arm punch with no power.

Thanks. I corrected title. The "rubber arms" exercise would be more productive if the punches were coordinated with the whole body. Although, setup punches have their place/function.

Start from: Stand feet parallel, 1 shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent, spine straight and vertical.

Turn the body left; swing the right arm up to the height of the throat.

Return the body to the centre, relax shoulder, drop elbow, soften and pull in the wrist.

Turn the body right, swing the lift arm up to the height of the throat.

Return the body to the centre, relax shoulder, drop elbow, soften and pull in the wrist.

Important points: Turn about central axis.

Can a physical exercise be copyrighted? If not then he has done no wrong. And looking at Ido Portal's physique and movement (and no doubt bank balance), being a 'collector' is working out just fine for him.

I find it no coincidence that he posted this yesterday :)

"Delusional Twats.
Portal and Blauer have the ability to convincingly talk about things that they absolutely know nothing about or doesn't exist.
Which I suppose could also be said about those pretentious twats who engage in some form of internal martial art .And who have somehow managed to convince themselves that they know what they are talking about on all things relating to movement and combat."
