Long time ago I got a tape on the CMC 37taiji form filmed in Malasia where the "missing"moves was added as a continuing sequence following the completion of the 37form, is this the same way in your's lineage?

Yes they are One of my students trained in Taiwan and the extra moves were after fair lady Da lui has them peppered thru the form like William Chen I think dr Tao is likewise In our form even though the moves are from the 108 they are done in a different manner, much more martial

What was the reason that CMC shortened the original form? He seem to have done that already before leaving for Taiwan, in so must have been the first of YCF's students to shorten the form?. He unlike others who later created shorter forms seem to have abandoned the long form completely, but as in for example the Fu Zhongwen and Li Yaxuan lineages they now have a short form but the main focus is still on the long(short form for competition or/and for students too busy with other things than long Taiji forms)...Did CMC have some "deeper" reasons for his 37form

He shortened it to teach at the Nanging Milatary academy Most of the modern shortened forms don't seem to follow the original sequence They seem to be shortened just to have less moves Some of CMC,s early students still retain the long form Some also retain the 4 weapons ,the San shou and the noi gung

Interesting! Having met several old timers and indoors of ZMQ over here in TW, I have seen Gun/Qiang work and Neigong from his teaching. But none of those teachers did learn any sabre and no sanshou from ZMQ. They mostly turned to the Xiong Yanghe lineage to get those.

It may only be yap Sui ting lineage I saw someone put up the walking stick I do I learnt it thru my Wu lineage but he was a lu tong Bao student Malaysia is a melting pot so those elements may have come from anywhere However they are taught thru schools that claim allegiance to CMC i think it was one of your teachers who had the extra movements after fair lady

As said previous in the thread that ZMQ's leading students have been "putting back" the missing moves in to the 37form, but the it is also stated that those senior students learned the original long form....Then why the "putting back", and putting back in places not following YCF original form?
