GM Mark Gin-Foon was my SPM teacher from 1975-1987, when I moved to Austin, TX, and a treasured friend until he died. He was considerably more than merely "that guy", both as a Jook Lum SPM practitioner and teacher, and as a very talented individual in numerous fields of expertise.
Master Mark's kungfu was very soft and relaxed, with extremely fast hands and agile footwork, combined with short power punches that felt like a sledge hammer. His skills had to be felt personally to be truly appreciated. He was also a master chef, a gifted artist and calligrapher, and he had an extensive knowledge of Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture point manipulation.
Mark Foon was GM Lam Sang's most skilled and most famous indoor disciple, imo. He is greatly missed by those of us who had the privilege of knowing him and learning from him. I remember him always with great love and respect. May his memory be eternal.
