All combat sports are designed to minimize damage to the participants by limiting fair targets. That was even true of Roman gladiators. When it's not for entertainment or training, though, people do the opposite and try to maximize injury to the opponent. Imo, that's purely a matter of intent, or "bad intentions."

And that's the thing, if ya had the opportunity to deliver a full-force downward elbow strike on someone, would ya do it?

When somebody come in to get the leg, they will come in at full speed with their body weight. The Baji Sifu could only have 1/10th of a second to response.

Clearly it is patently impossible to defend against a shoot for a double leg takedown, you may as well just tap out as soon as you find out it's a wrestler

None of it makes sense. The comment is non-sequitur, as it's not an MMA fight. The grab, whether attempting to do a takedown or just hold on and stop the damage, was ineffective even in the original clip. If someone wants to figure out how to stop a shoot, it would be in their best interest to work against one that was well done, rather than whatever that was shown in the clip. In general, I'd say the real problems with a shoot are dealing with the opponent's forward momentum, and then either breaking or denying their leverage to either lift you up or pull your legs out from under you. Pinpoint strikes against targets that may or may not be available doesn't seem like a sound strategy to me.
