The basic miao dao form taught in many Wutan Schools - I recall it was basically 4 linear linked movements and then a 2 person apps and 2 person form.

I am not sure but it may have come into Wutan from Han Qingtang

Miao Dao workshop 2006, warmups, basic flow drills for solo and 2man action/reaction. These are beginners.
We use the Shinia to first learn the form, for safety first. Later they use the long sword. The Shinia allows for mistakes, for two man drills and two man form practice....
I hope all can enjoy objectively.

Steve James:

I learned the 4 Roads back a "100 years ago" and I still have my wooden miao dao - we always noticed how long the handle was and we never gripped closely - completely unfamiliar with Japanese weapons

I mentioned in an earlier post I did not learn the 2 person fight but we prepped two of our younger students and they competed with it in the old Great Lakes Tournament - they did well - it was a much longer form than the one clip above - unfortunately neither of them practice marital arts any longer.
