Absolutly no disrespect ment here, but would these gentlemennot get more out of their structure if the hand that they were not using was held with a little more shape? Maybe its just me, but I can remember the foundation of the Tai ji I was taught had a great deal to do with balancing the postures/movements in order to neither block or waist energy. This maybe only be foundation stuff and is not necessary at higher levels, but it struck me as something worth mentioning.

If you watch close the pushes happen like clockwork on the second or third pass depending on which push hands exercise they are doing.
