Here you go, Brady. Check this out. He looks like he would fuck someone up with these things, fo sho!
It really is the only clip I've ever seen of anyone with these kind of weapons that really looked like he could use them. Not flashy, just real close in and deadly. Fluidly jabbing and tearing and moving the weapons with his body mass behind them. Ruthless.
I prefer You behind the wheel And me the passenger
besides stating the obvious (this guy is very good) i wanted to know ( and this sounds stupid? maybe crazy?) do you know who wrote the music thats playing in this video?
first video looked like a xing yi guy attempting to emulate bagua forms. the title was 'cheng 8 major palm' but it was all xing yi to me, especially when he did a strike. don't even get me started on stepping. I'm sure he's put many many years into his CMA, and his flexibility shows at some points. But definitely not a 'cheng' thing going on there.
"The power of Christ compels you!" *spank* now with ADDED SMOOTHOSITY!
This is what Cheng style bagua should be, it's not blended with xingyi at all. He's using the 'han li' (containing force) of the 'long xing' and he's really developed the 'ban' (moving strike) in his hand posture which is pulling back the palms. He's using the 'long xing's' unique aspect of baguazhang- the 'liang shou' (double-handed tactics). His movement's fit the song:
The guy's good, that's for sure. Some oldschool gongfu going on there. However, from my (albeit limited) exposure to two branches of Cheng style, I'd have to go with meeks on this one. I wouldn't go so far as to say the guy is just mimicking bagua, but his power generation does not fit my understanding of Cheng style. In both branches I've been exposed to, even "explosive" power is delivered through continuous movement.
