Mantis Boxing

Postby Michael Dasargo on Fri Aug 28, 2009 11:38 pm

Applications are performed on passive and compliant partners to illustrate the techniques embedded in the forms.

Timing, angling, broken rhythm, range manipulation, and other principles are necessary to effectively setup and execute the techniques on a combative opponent. We left these ideas out to maintain the focus of the illustrated techniques.

Hi Michael:

Although my personal training experience is in Kwong-Sai Jook Lum SPM, I like this clip except for a couple of risky applications. :-\

Thanks for sharing! :)

Hello all,

Sorry for the late responses. Anyway, we teach 7 Star and 8 Step mantis (majors) after basic striking, trapping, kicking, and grappling skills (G.E.D.'s) are acquired.

And yes, there are many counter-moves, and setups to counter the counter moves and so on. Compliant demo's actually drive me nuts. But, to survive as a business, they are basic enough to keep the attention of the untrained eye.

So I apologize if I've irritated others besides myself with having to do a "demo" vid.

As soon as I can, I'll put up some sparring/combative stuff.

Good clip, I like your material Michael. looks like you are teaching decent stuff.
