Hi all,
Here are a few brief videos I managed to take yesterday whilst training.

Baguazhang "Yin Yang Palms" Jibengong:

Single and Double Change whilst circle walking:

New Frame Yang Taiji:

Old Frame Yang Taiji:

Criticism, observation, recommendation all welcome :)

hi James

for the YinYang Palms, watch your back hand on the rising motion is lacking twist and purpose.

Circle walking and changes you need plenty of work with a teacher to add detail, for the changes slow down, hold each posture, feel the principles of the art rather than just the movement.

Its a good start, but you really need to find a teacher if you will progress beyond this stage.

hi ...
regarding your tai chi clips ...
how do you feel about your ability to transfer you mass from one side to the other? it looks like your steps are a bit "clunky". in my opinion it looks like your mass can be stopped very easy and there for may not have much striking power.

take single whip as a example. have a training friend put some resistance on your hand against the direction you are moving your mass and feel the changes you might make to keep moving through to transfer your mass. if at any point in the transition to single whip you are off balanced by the resistance this is showing you where to look to correct your "form"

good practice ...

Where is that - on a pier near the sea? Looks like a great place to practice - lots of flat, and nobody around! Or is it just early morning?

What is the difference between your 'old' and 'new' Yang style? I prefer your 'new' - the 'old' seems to have a very wide stance that doesn't look that practical for actual use to me, although I suppose it's just wide to make your legs work harder.

It's on a pier on the river just outside my house. It's about 3 o'clock in the afternoon - so it's just naturally quiet there. It's one of my prefered places to practice.

The new frame is what I learned from my first teacher, based on the standard Yang Chengfu form.
The Old frame I learned from alexsuffolk - I'm not sure what the history of it is, but I enjoy practicing both methods.
