Kenjutsu

Postby tanglang on Mon Aug 31, 2009 4:08 am

Hello everyone,

What are your thoughts on this guy? He's called Kuroda (黒田). His batto seems pretty fast to me, but his upper back and neck posture seem awful (as do his opponent's).

What do you think?

The genius from a nameless ryuha. That's common in Manga but he's real. :)

Hes quick, but whats scary is how incredibly sharp his awareness is. He nails the exact moment the other guy has decided to move, but has not started yet.

Sensen No Sen basically means an opponent is countered in the split second before he has moved physically, but after he has mentally committed to an attack. The point where he is attacking but not yet moving. It is quite a skill!!

That sounds like the Xingyi precept of 敌不动,我不动; 敌一动,我先动 - I don't move when the opponent doesn't move; but when the opponent moves, I move first.

But sensen no sen is just a cooler way of stating it. :)

that's actually a taiji concept from the treatise.
but it is a common truth through all martial arts.
