Looks like good training Rob! Some of those conditioning drills look quite brutal. Can I ask, what's with the exercise where the guys have the staff locked behind their backs and are trying to get up - is it just physical conditioning or is there another purpose?

Cheers

Hi Matthew

The aim of the drill is to restrict movement, then give guys a task - eg fall on your back the get up again. It's partly problem solving, part fear innoculation and partly learning to use muscles you didn't know you had! It can also feed into things like taking a fall/throw when you don't have control of your arms, etc

cheers

Cool - sounds like a good drill. I am pretty tense anyway and have a fear of being thrown, recently when I get chucked during training I'm trying to relax with the impact rather than grab my partner or break the fall normally with my arms.

Cheers,

Sounds good, Matthew. If you get the time it's well worth doing some rolling on a hard floor - it will pinpoint your tension and help you soften up considerably!

Some nice stuff, Rob. Good to see proficient car jacking skills being practiced at around 3:32.

I was watching that thinking he's going to defend himself from the car jacker.... then it turned out he was learning to BE a car jacker! ;D

I hope his energy channels are open or he will catch bad karma....

Yeah, you never know when you're going to be out walking, and see some sweet Beemer pull up at a red light next to you, just asking for it! ;D
