It sucked toe actually.

What you are seeing from my understanding with the toe of the blade going to the ground...is a bad habit with some styles of Arnis and Kali. It starts a cycle of blade cuts. In some styles and tribe ( Moro Moro and Iban) they carry a long sword with a sheath (2 halves of wood ) held together by twine ie a kamplian

Image.
You toe the blade into the dirt to cut the twine and release the blade. The proceed to flick dirt in your opponents face and then proceed to slice and dice...or slap chop.

.

This is my 2c. Somebody more "street" can add to my judgement. But after living in Malayasia and the Philipines checkout

Show a vid of YOU guys doing better otherwise leave the old man alone. Not defending the Tuhan, just tired of the peanut gallery. Try being the man in the arena because it's not the critic who counts.

+1

I'm sure his students overlooked that little divergence from the script. It's clear he's playing his own game and the students are playing their role, all with out the realities of sparring with weapons.

Thanks, Tom.

I was just going to mention that. Might want to cut the man some slack. I've always enjoyed his stuff even if it's a bit unusual. And a stroke...

He mentioned being paralyzed on the left side.

I hope he's doing better now. Prayers out to you, Joe.
