Interesting. I think he's actually going to get done for assault or murder if he did a lot of those things in real life, and he got caught on CCTV.

Worth considering.

nice. a lot of 'working with the flat of the blade' that people say just can't be done.

Aye that was good. I really liked his body check / kao at the swinging bat. And the pull and clothes line thing he did was hella sweet too. Overall the intensity of the clip was spot on. I'm sure I remember these guys (the grey haired older guy particularly) from fight quest, the savate episode. V good martial artists and fighters.

Nice clip. Good to see some "in situ" work going on and also the escape work happening too

Some of the most realistic speed/aggression I've seen from the attackers in this sort of clip, good stuff. I notice they come from a security rather than traditional background.

His empty hand stuff is pretty sweet too! :D

Good point!

Still not sure what to make of the bit where his disarms an attacker with a knife, then stabs him repeatedly in the chest with their own knife while they are unarmed.... Can't see that getting passed many courts of law, regardless of country! :o

I'd be interested to know. Anyone know, with respect to the UK at least?

You gotta do what you must ... that might be 'if up against a crazed drug fuelled manic' ... without context i guess its pretty meaningless. I think if some tries to kill me and i kill them as a result ... that's fair enough. ;)

at least i am alive to be tried in a court. :D

It is diverse you could say. It's Savate, so their backround ticks the box for traditional as well as combat sport. As well as them being involved in security/ police work and training etc.

Marc MacYoung always talks sense....and worth seeing..not because of his skill but because you can see he really has picked up a knife and used it in anger...

Graham,

I'm not sure what you find objectionable.

Almost all the material these guys show seems to be:
-escape ASAP, or
-make sure the assailant can't continue assaulting you and give him verbal commands to leave instead of finishing him off.

I can see one sequence where the assailant has a knife to the guy's throat, and the guy grabs the knife hand and stabs him twice with his own knife before running away. The assailant has a knife to his throat. That's a threat of lethal force. The victim is unarmed and justifiably in fear for his life. Is he justified in using lethal force? Hell yes!

Another sequence shows the assailant getting elbowed in the face. Well the victim is unarmed and the assailant has a collapsible baton (which is a less-than-lethal weapon but can easily cause fatal trauma).

The only thing I find ethically dubious is the sequence where he disarms the assailant and stabs him twice to the torso.

There are bits in there which are obviously meant to depict how attacks might go down (e.g. surprise attacks).
