Nice! The interesting diff. between judo and shuai, is it seems judo is okay with going to the ground, while much of the shuai positions in a manner to remain standing.
Here's some more iphone fun we had tonight: angular striking
The cool thing about Mantis is that it already has lots of excellent grappling techniques -- throws and locks --- built into the forms. Great to see how you are focusing on the throwing aspects of the art.
yeah, it was ironic as I used to be anti-ground fighting. When I started learning BJJ and shuai, a lot of it was very intuitive based on both the tlq and tjq Ive learned. Fun stuff for sure. I'm glad the mantis boxing is recognizable.
I really like the way you put up progressions of clips. Nice to see a well thought out training progression of how one move flows into the other, especially the striking into the throwing, the closing up of the range. Good stuff!
Nice clips! No need to lug a vidcam around anymore.
Didn't care for how your friend does his shrimping but was very impressed with his smooth flow getting up. Great that you guys grapple on hardwood, that's the only way to learn to get soft. It's been a bear getting my students to grapple without mats. They won't go slow enough and end up being submitted by the floor
