Yeah, good stuff. The first one is a technique we practiced last week. Of course we are a bit more wimpy and do it on mats so the takedowns don't hurt as much.

We do a two person excercise up and back the gym floor where someone is moving forward doing roundhouse kicks, left side, right side to the ribs while the other person is backing up into a cat stance and blocking with relaxed hands from a neutral (hands down at sides ) position. The person kicking, needs to protect his groin because occassionally the partner that is doing the blocking will throw in a groin shot as he is blocking the kick to the ribs.

Ian: yeah, we're all goofy dorks with a passion for the fighting arts. Makes for good times.
TaichiMantis: we're posers...it's actually puzzle mats disguised as hard wood =P
Graham: yup! The techniques come from a mantisized shaolin set called "cha chui". it's a funny set...long clubbing techniques injected with spurts of close quarter mantis.
Shuai-chiao practice notes from last Thursday:
