If two people both max lift 300 lbs in the bench, but one person does a full rep in 5 seconds and the other person takes 10 sec they have the same strength. However they don't have the same power. Strength does not automatically make you more powerful. You have to be able to produce force in a small amount of time, which is what makes strikes and throws powerful.

You guys do realize that in the strongest man competitions that this guy won more than anyone else in history, they have events like hurling very heavy things over high walls and such?

yes, it's mostly what we could call now days functional strength. But they are defenetly right on that the energy to fight is different, but in my opinion it is not connected to musclefibers that much rather than skill more.
But you know the drill: there are diff explanations for the same thing.
