Shen Laoshi is a great guy. He's a small laid-back man, but once you start talking about fighting he gets all fired up.

Human body only has that many limbs, so there will be only that many ways to unbalance and throw it... There are bound to be general (mechanical) similarities between all throwing arts, regardless of their origin and development.
