Nice find. Do you know who is the teacher demoing in the vid?

Nice to see some people putting up Taijiquan grappling stuff.

It's Tony Chan.

I believe these guys are out of Toronto and they teach with Eddie Wu.

I really like his tiao-toshi/headlock throw and that inner hooking throw at 0:36.

Thanks.

Yeah, pretty sweet.

Seeing this makes me want to visit some of the Wu style guys when I visit Hong Kong.

weird.... I like the stuff before they actually throw... that part is actually really sloppy. is this a semi-cooperative demo? the stockier guy looks like he should be avoiding throws more.

I hear what you're saying but I can't tell either.

I suppose since they're on a hard surface the teacher didn't want to hurt his student so he went light and the student went with it perhaps so he wouldn't have to get slammed.

I guess we'd just have to feel it to know...

Fong, are most of those throws standard SC throws?

yeah most of them have a "standard" SC names.

see the one where he is getting "embraced" and then reverses it? if the stockier guy just put a turn on him, the stockier guy would have had the throw.

when the teacher does "absorbing" and leans on the stockier guy's leg, if he just shifts his leg back, the position is neutralized, and they're even again. when you do absorbing your back should be straight, not leaned over like he does. see the wang hai ping video at around 3:50

From what I see the balance of the teacher is not good enough.
And the student is very "helpful". Real throws with intention are different and unexpected.
I know that they maybe just playing or else, but if you put it to the net.....I don't know.

I think they are being semi cooperative and demoing for class, but I agree that it's not as clean as a lot of Judo and SC.

I like the clip because you rarely see youtube Taijiquan demos with these kinds of throws... It's good to know that there are more people in the IMA out there training these kinds of things, and retaining it in their style.

It's also nice to see him demoing on a guy that looks quite a bit heavier.
