Surboard Shark Fishermen (for real - no joke, this one)

Postby Andy_S on Thu Oct 30, 2008 1:41 am

This is NOT the ad with the Californian being towed on a surfboard by a porker - this is the real deal
These blokes:
Take the sharkbait out by SURFBOARD:
Have a fighting chair attached to the bumper of their 4-WHEELER;
Actually catch a GREAT WHITE live on cam; and
(Best of all) they throw it BACK into the surf.

Massive hat tip I nominate these good-natured Aussie madmen as the "Greatest LIving Fishermen."

That really was very cool. I love surf fishing but don't think I'll try surf board fishing.

Well, much as I love these blokes, they are an accident waiting to happen.

If there is no news that one of these lads has lost, say, a limb within six months, I am going to have to conclude that great white sharks:
(2) Have lost their balls in recent years; or
(2) Are vastly over-rated as killer fish.
Either of which would be a sad conclusion to draw. (This post, if you had not guessed, is written by a die-hard "Jaws" lover.) So, come on South Australian white pointers, show us what those razor-edged teeth are capable of.

Thats pretty crazy. I think the great white is overrated though.

sharks in general are pretty overrated as killers anyway. shark-related deaths average about 60 per year, worldwide. bees kill about 500 per year.

in 2007 there was ONE shark related death.

still, nothing like the rush of seeing a whole school of 'em 20m under your surfboard, or watching jaws then going for an hour's swim in the sea.

that shark looked kinda cute.
