I just played push hands with a man who was high on cocaine. It was pretty weird because he was indeed abnormally fast and strong. Has anyone ever sparred with somebody in an altered state of consciousness?

Did it look anything like this?

;D

I remember about half way through an acid trip once having to pick up my wooden practice sword and hit up Golden Gate park for one of the most enthusiastic practice sessions ever. :o

As far as actual sparring goes....nothing stronger than weed. Sometimes a hell of a lot of it but weed keeps things friendly anyways. -joint-

Doesn't push hands with someone on coke usually equate to someone who's trying to jack you for money for more coke? Just sayin lol.

But just sparring, that would be some wierd sh*t.

Be a friend and tell him to get off that stuff, it'll ruin his life.

here here!!! Cocaine is one of the most evil substances on earth. I once watched a transvestite hooker smoke crack while talking about how he had just started doing speed balls. Really scary. Stay off that shit! >:(

Heh, heh. Years ago, when Mo Ling was in Oakland, we got high (just on pot) and did some push hands, it was actually alot of fun. Then we watched some ridiculous movie and laughed our asses off while eating pasta that his wife cooked us. Much fun...

I'm with Eddie Bravo on the weed thing. It's a great tool for what we do.

I'm 420% sure of this.

Drugs adle the mind. I don't think they are any use for martial arts practice at all.

Sometimes a good addling (correct spelling :) ) can be useful. Mindfulness is the key as per always.

Unfortunately as addictive as cocaine is, I doubt a heartfelt talk is going to get this guy to change his lifestyle. Personally I just hope he wasn't homeless. He was wearing an awful lot of warm clothing for a south carolina winter. Drugs affect different people in different ways. I find I roll 100% better when I have some caffeine before I spar, some people find it just makes them jittery.

I sort of ' get it ' about smoking pot and having a deeper sensitivity but at the end of the day no drug is beneficial to a healthy state of mind as it creates a false sense of reality / feeling and so this would mean that if you continued your ' practice ' you would have to be high all the time for it to be normal and feel comfortable with. You cannot just stop a street thug and ask them if its ok to snort a line / or grab a cappuccino before they try to rob you.
