The word is mightier than the sword. ;)

Once, as a kid, I had my hat pulled over my face and got kneed a few times.

Good stuff! I like how creative people are in the face of violence. :D

Steve:

Comb is a bad weapon alright, but what do you do if you are attacked by a bald man?

Nice! Goin' to see The Maltese Falcon on the big screen for the Saturday matinee this weekend. 8-)
Sam Spade has excellent ability to sink his chi/handle adrenaline dump.

I would have hit the fat man with the black bird.
I define internal martial art as unusual muscle recruitment and leave it at that. If my definition is incomplete, at least it is correct so far as it goes.

I never understood why Sam Spade didn't just get in his boat, the African Queen, sail up to General Sternwood's house to pick up Lauren Bacall, and then go dig for some gold in the High Sierras?

nothing unusual as of right now, but I was thinking about the umbrella.
not in the closed position, but opened umbrella used a bit like greek shield. more of a fun thing, but how effective could this be against a charging wrestler and knife?

Funny you should mention umbrella. My teacher's teacher's or whatever, Funakoshi the karate guy, once did exactly that. It's in his memoirs. Intention is related to vision and his umbrella screwed with what they were trying to hit.

This was bare hands, two against one, but if they don't know where the target is, it may bumfluster the average sorts of mugger.
