That's a funny category. For me it would more or less encompass every language in existence. ;)

I'm a little surprised, that you neither speak, nor wish you could speak English. I think your writing is pretty good... ;D

Yes that was my "realistic" list. I'll save everyone the excel spreadsheet with multiple tabs :D

English
Chinese
Spanish....ok. I have forgotten about 90% of my Spanish since moving to China but I used to be pretty fucking conversational in Mexian.

My dad pointed out once that I spoke the 3 most common languages on the planet.

I can read French, Spanish, Portuguese and some German. I can write comfortably in Spanish. In terms of conversation, I can defend myself in the French and Spanish-speaking world and in Brazil (Portugal is something else) --and in a German restaurant. I wouldn't say that I was "fluent" in any of those languages, though. However, I'd say that the proficiency is above "phrase book" level, and I could actually construct thoughts in those languages. Otoh, I can ask where the bathroom is or someone's name or if someone speaks English in a few more languages. I'd like to do Arabic. But, I think it's most practical to work on the languages that surround me.

Btw, outside of immersion in the country or with a tutor, I've found that the best/fastest/most effective way to learn a language is though audio lessons (like Pimsleur) or audio-visual lessons (like Rosetta Stone). Rosetta Stone is good for vocabulary building in a realistic way; but Pimsleur is better because you listen to conversations sooner. Books work fine too, if all you want to do is read. They can't help you understand or be understood by speakers of a language.

Yeah it's sort'a in-between Russian and Polish...
I'm just guessing the reason is that he either met a hot exchange student, or he's planning to place an order at 100ukrainianbrides.com. Not that there is anything wrong with that. ;D

'Cause I honestly can't think of any other reason whatsoever... :-/

Dmitri,

I told you I have a problem ;D

I don't even really know what Ukrainians look like. The language sounds cool, and looks like amusing Russian. My excuses for Czech and Finnish are just as flimsy ;D

There's definately nothing wrong with that, except for the prices maybe...

I do know a 22 year old Ukrainian girl. She comes from the south of the country and looks nothing like that. When I first met her, I guessed she was from Spain...
