Funny how people say they don't like certain topics...

...

...

but make for damn sure they click on them each and every time there's a new post.

Come on now, adding a political subforum is not gonna decrease interaction or cause "division" (except in a healthy, compartmentalized fashion). Change is good, it has brought us to where we are today. I say we continue to adjust and fine tune, rather than stagnate.

One thing that comes to mind form reorganization (or platform change) is that the older messages will be difficult to re-organize... Don't know about how well phpBBS -> Drupal message-transfer works, but would imagine there would be some trouble.

I see value in having all the old threads around... I don't really see how changing the category names would improve the discussion.

If the issue is findability, there could be a simple tagging system for the threads or something similar...

Only change for the better is good. Change for the worse is not. :P

There are many boards out there with 10-15 forums/sections and some sub-forums yet under those, and it's usually a complete mess. There are people who NEVER check some of the sections simply because their titles don't directly appeal to them and/or they have limited time, and they WILL miss out on some gold occasionally buried somewhere "deep" in there.
Less is more IMO.

I already only mostly look in OTT. Sometimes I go to the main and browse/lurk, rarely do I check out video links etc.

Things are just fine the way they are.

I guess it depends how you use the forum. When I browse to RSF I click on Board Index and then View Active Topics. That shows you all the most recently updated threads, regardless of what forum they might be in. If you use this method it doesn't matter how many forums or subforums there are, you will always see the latest threads.
Gimme eleventy billion subforums, I don't care, my user experience will be the same (better actually, since it's more organized).

I like the idea of a place where members could put up there websites or blogs and the idea about a fight news area. Both could simply be accomplished with sticky threads though. One for Members websites and blogs and one for fight news, people could post whatever events they plan on watching and stuff.

i think that's not a bad idea actually. too many sticky topics can be just as bad a problem but more easily managed.
