John (and others): could you please post a line of text above or below YouTube posts, so those of us who are unable to access YouTube at the moment can know what movie you're mentioning? Thanks.

One way to go about this is to pick a couple of good directors (like Scorsese, Eastwood, Del Toro, Spielberg, Coppola, Tarantino, Singer, etc.) who make movies in the "style" you personally like, and then look up their movies on IMDb and get whatever is rated 8 or higher.

Also make sure to check out this list:

Dunno what you are chuckling at Meeks, "LLL" is not a comedy, it is one of the greatest films in the "lavatorial lesbian porn" genre.

Perhaps the film you are thinking about is the inferior (yet still watchable), "Dirty Damned Dwarf Doggers" by the same director, Johan Johansson?

The sequence where the two vertically challenged ones are frantically having it away behind a bush in the park, get dog tied, and have to be sprayed by the park keeper with a cold hose in order to de-couple, is widely recognised as one of the greatest scenes ever filmed in the "dwarf porn outdoor comedy" subgenre, worthy of Chaplin.

Or actors, for example Daniel Day Lewis (I like "In the Name of the Father". I always cry at that one, or "The Princess Bride" ('my name is Inigo Montoya...'
Any movie/play that I can remember one line from is great :)

How about "The Magnificent Seven" and "Seven Samurai."

Yeah, I forgot Princess Bride. I discovered it because of RSF.

I did mention the 7 Samurai.

I forgot the following movies:
Red Beard. Almost anything by Kurosawa.
Galaxy Quest
The Man Who Knew Too Little
What About Bob?
OSS 117 (French comedy)
Get Smart
The Men Who Stare at Goats
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
3:10 to Yuma
Oscar
Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatre
Ghost Dog
Aliens I & II
Red Sun
Sherlock Holmes

There are many more, but these I can watch again and again.

Series: Rome, Battlestar Galactica, Lost. I have Band of Brothers but I did not get to watching it yet.

Of course, the whole point of a Doomsday Machine is lost, if you *keep* it a *secret*! Why didn't you tell the world, EH?

The Last Valley (Michael Caine and Omar Sharif in 30 years war - wot more can you ask for?)
Stalingrad (Not quite Das Boot, but still a belter of a war film)
Fargo (Oh yaaa)
Big Lebowski (Shear brilliance)
Magnificent 7 (Silliest theme song ever, but the chaps' movie to end all chaps' movies)
The Street Fighter (Bronson's finest IMHO)
The Long Good Friday (Hoskins' finest IMHO)
Snatch (Jason Statham has done nothing nearly this good since crossing the Atlantic)
3 and 4 Musketeers (Richard Lester-directed version)
The Sting (one of the best plot-driven flicks of all time)
El Cid (Heston at his epic best - great fights)
Jaws (Porkers, Mr Hooper?)
Plan 9 From Outer Space (Note to Academy Award Committee: Please consider a "Worst Film" Oscar)
Apocalypse Now (Says everything about Vietnam without pretending to be realistic)
Apocalpyto (Pretty good chase film, but could have used some Wagner. And some choppers)
Salivating Spanking Sapphos (almost as good as LLL)
