Not your typical grainy and blurry photos typical from that time period this amazing photo set uses a special photographic technique using 3 black and white photo exposures stacked together and color filters to make it feel like they've been taken with a modern camera. Pretty amazing!

Super cool. They all have a ghostly feel to them. Would you imagine being the great great great grandchild of one of those people, and watching this?

Amazing. My grandparents all emigrated from Russia/Tsarist Ukraine between 1906 and 1909, so these images are like a peek into the world they left behind.

That's what's cool about this set. This wasn't done with today's post processing techniques on the computer for old BW photos. This was done 100 yrs ago using black and white film and the photographer at that time had a special technique of putting together color filters to give the pics color.

Fucking amazing.

The only place you can really see the technique in on the water for some reason. Maybe because it's always in such rapid motion so the negatives don't match up as well as the rest?

Just goes to show, that even with "lo-tech" resources, the creative mind will find a way to get the effect it imagines. The layering of plates, and hand-tinting, are a brilliant solution.

Beautiful pics. It is interesting to see that a black and white pic of the era makes it all look so distant. Until you see a color picture.

Time marches on. I suppose, down the road, people will marvel that we managed to do so much with primitive computers and we mostly traveled in (snicker) automobiles. This three-plate color photography stuff was Buck Rogers, in its time.
I define internal martial art as unusual muscle recruitment and leave it at that. If my definition is incomplete, at least it is correct so far as it goes.
