Yikes, for some, that would be a death sentence. From a certain pov, it would make more sense to get rid of "them" people now; since, ultimately, they will release the encrypted information anyway. Unless, of course, they don't plan to release it, which would lend the lie to their claim of releasing info for the public good.
*(Hint: if you want to blackmail someone, don't let everyone know that you're doing it. Then, there's no more reason for the victim to comply). In the end, nothing sinister will probably happen to him ... until he gets put in jail.
