and the world gets another check mark on the what the fuck side of the list....

Meet Miku Hatsune, the latest pop sensation from Japan. She isn't actually real... uh and her fans write her music...oh, and she's a holographic projection...so here she is..uh..."live".

what a great signing for any record label though, she will never get drunk publicly and make a fool of herself, very low maintenance, no lavish hotel rooms or expensive gifts etc.. Come to think of it she would make a great wife

I first read "Japanese hologram pornstar". That would not have surprised me.

Wow. Mind boggles at the possibilities... :)

E.g. I can see some heavy goth band with Cthulhu doing all the singing.

Very cool actually. I mean, a lot of it is about "cool visuals" that are entertaining... This "style" of performance is definitely here to stay, IMO.

(Darth you're just jealous because you're afraid that you'll wake up one morning only to find out that your stage presence is no longer needed as you've been replaced with a hologram of actual Darth Vader doing 5-element XY linking form upside down while singing the heavy-metal version of the Canadian national anthem. Can you beat that? Didn't think so!!)

AS far as her mis-behaving. Couldn't she be made to mis-behave in any way imagineable?

Off topic -
Did any one see the Jeff Bridges piece on making of Tron?
They mapped his face (that he has now) and then did a clay mockup of his youthful face.
Then scanned the mockup in to the puter and super-impose that on any movements
by his present mapped face. he said -when he got to thinking about it - that he realized it's
great. He can now play himself at any age.

I read that book (thanks, I-mon) and thought of that when I saw this thread.

I'm rather much more impressed by the hologram technology than disturbed by the anime concert. actually that's quite disturbing too...

is it only limited to one color or can they do that with full color as well? and can we install one to work with a touch screen to guide people in malls and such? (I know what you were thinking when I wrote 'touch screen' you sick ppl.)
