I watched it, twice. Things I liked, things I didn't. Overall it was ok and my understanding is that it improves with each episode so I'm still hopeful.

I'll wait until you have seen it to say more.

I was curious about this show, and since I don't have HBO I didn't get the chance to see it. Looked interesting from the promo's I'd seen.
Best,

I did! I liked it. Then again I like most epic-fantasy/Tolkien inspired "things". Either way nudity and violence is always entertaining. I sensed some slight racism there but hey I'm an anthropology major, we sense racism in most things :'( I never read the books so I can't comment on the accuracy for all those hardcore "A Song of Ice and Fire" fans out there. Overall, good, worth checking out, especially if you like epic-fantasy. Too bad my free HBO weekend promo ended so I'll have to catch the rest of the season on the net. Any good sites? If so PM me please ;D

For those who haven't seen the trailer:

Started reading the first book of the series (about a year ago) but got distracted and stopped... But what little I did manage to read was pretty good.

Wow, 9.2 on IMDb has gotta worth something...
Looking forward to seeing it; thanks for the reminder Jose.

Carcetti for VP! No really. Carcetti played by Aiden Gillen is a fictional representation of Martin O'Malley who was city council and the first white Mayor of Baltimore in my lifetime. He was elected Governor in 06. He was all set to be Hilarys running mate if she got the 08 Democratic presidential nominee. She didn't but if she runs again he is a good bet to run with her so we may get "Carcetti" for VP!

It's pretty good, but it seems as much soap-opera as fantasy, or maybe it's soap-fantasy. I.e., the politics (bedroom/court) is just as important, if not moreso, than the battles and fantasy. Ah, that's it, they have to beware of too much reality --unlike the Tudors. So, we have to see whether it's more "Rome" or "Spartacus", with elements of "LOTR." And, I'm not saying that it's not fun to watch. The last scene in E01 was ... interesting.

I rather liked it. It was relatively true to the book, though it has been some time since I read them. I will continue to read them. For those who have not yet read them, I highly recommend that you do. One of the rare things about the series is that Martin has no fear of developing a highly interesting character that you can associate with easily and then kill them in a brutal and unexpected fashion. In this series 99% of the time when you think, "Oh no, Martin won't do that. There must be some twist that let's him get out of this one," there is no twist and the character is going down hard, no matter how cool you think he/she may be.

Just downloaded it...lacking in the HBO dept. Well done, just feel the effects suffer.
