I got to use our knowledge to save my mom!

So my mom knows, of course, how much I've been interested in this stuff for the longest time and she's been kind of wishy washy on it but she found these two women in her weaving class that do tai chi and she's like I'll go hang out with these ladies and do tai chi.

I asked her who it was with and she didn't know. When she came back she was like it was some place called the "taoist tai chi society...it was a little weird." I'm like. "It's weird because it's a cult. Don't go there."

Anyway, it made me feel pretty good that I could help my mom out with some EF Powah!

Pretty cool. Except for the cult thing, but otherwise very cool.

i think the next step is for you to volunteer to teach these three ladies tai chi yourself.
why not, unless teaching your mom would be roughly as difficult as if my sons ever tried to teach me anything.

mothers don't give their sons the respect they deserve. Even when they (the children) near 50 years old, Mothers can't not see them as anything but their children.

unless they (the children) have a huge fan base and then they tend to be just quiet about it. Kind of shocked that their children are so adored.

It's weird. I'm sure that Jung and Fred expounded deeply on this topic. I'm sure of it actually, I just can't pull the reference out right now. there are tons of references to this type of stumbling block in the literature of history.

strong is the mother who has the empty cup and can see her children for what they really are.

i'm not going to argue with you about that. even if i don't exactly have an empty cup, i do have a little self knowlege. i have the greatest respect for my sons but i find myself reacting at time as though they were still about 13.

Who's the Taoist Tai Chi Society?

Moy lin shin founded the organization to ...well, who knows what. Probably to promote taichi I guess, but what they do isn't much more than adulterated Yang (sorry yang style) done poorly. Perhaps Moy was looking to have his own cult.

Now it is an organization that simply promotes their own thing. they claim health and longevity from their practice, but they don't like to talk about how Moy died at the young age of 67, which pretty much kiboshes that.

It's often referred to as the "powdered butt syndrome". When a parent has raised a child they will always look at them that way to a certain extent and not take advice from someone when they can still remember having powdered their butt (changed their diapers). ;)

Yeah, my mom and I are actually currently in therapy for just this thing.

It's actually pretty cool, since I'm stuck being around her all the time. We've been saying that we should work out our gratuitous pushing of each others buttons for years now, and since it finally just sort of came about that we were in a position to get some therapy together with someone pretty skilled, I'm trying really hard to actually affect some change in our relationship.

S- who's mother drives him crazy.

Shawn, a good-natured person as you obviously are should actually be able to bring about some change. Very best wishes with that.
