Who is watching Cosmos?

Great series! I'm watching episode 2 right now. I love how they show how dogs helped humans survive.

I'm watching it together with my seven year-old son. Awesome stuff!

It's ok, and I'm a real fan of NDT. It's certainly not nearly as good as the original with Carl Sagan. This one has been watered down a bit for the masses, in my opinion.

I can't compare it to Sagan's Cosmos. I think this series uses the latest technology to tell a story to the masses, specifically the young masses. But, the story and the purpose of telling the story is the same: to celebrate and inspire human curiosity. Sagan was special because he was the first to put the cosmic story before the world, and television (PBS) was the perfect vehicle. (Gotta give credit to the FOX network for co-producing this one). There've been several great shows about the universe. Ain't nothing like the first time, though.

Yeah, I think it sucks. I am re-watching the original with Sagan.

I hear you but on the flip side a lot of young people aren't going to be interested in the original, perhaps by seeing this they will want to see more of Carl Sagan's work. I like them both. More Sagan!

Speaking of science shows, sort of, try this one that came out in the late 70s.

Want to go deep? I used to watch this on my VCR as a kid.

William Shatner takes on the subject of ancient aliens.

Hawking thinks it's a mistake for us to advertise the nice place we have here.
Afa ancient aliens, I think that's just the inability to accept that "primitive" or "ancient" peoples did fantastic things on their own. The basic counterargument is usually "but how do you explain ...."
Is it possible that there have been visits by aliens? Sure. Though, if that science is correct, then a lot of religion must be wrong.
I think that the part in Shatner's video about the costume that looks like a spacesuit is wonderful. Just like Star Trek, life in the universe(s) is somehow like human life --in our own image, so to speak.

I think the timing for the remake could have never been better. The more information is available at the touch of a button, for some reason, the easier it is for the majority of people to get lost in it and not know whats legit and whats bull. Hopefully, NDT and people like him, by being in the spotlight, steer the young folks into a direction where they can use their own objective curiosity to poke at reality, without any indoctrinated knowledge.

Also, i really look forward to Ken Ham's counters to each episode every week. They just get better and better.
